Fewer than 25,000 people voted in the Columbus Mayor’s race
but 62% cast their ballots for the incumbent, Mayor Tomlinson.
IRS agent John Thomas won the district 2 school board seat.
Frank Myers beat Beth Harris for school board seat 8. Kia
Chambers won the at large seat with 52% of the vote.
Judy Thomas won another term on the City Council for the at
large seat. Pops Barnes was reelected for Council seat 1 over
Zeph Baker. Mimi Woodson retained her council post 7 seat.
David Perdue and Jack Kingston are headed for a runoff in the
GOP bid for the Georgia US Senate seat.
Phenix City’s City Manager Wallace Hunter was relieved from
his duties but some are calling it racial discrimination.
Craig Ross has withdrawn his name from consideration for the
Phenix City School Superintendent.
Julio Teheran 6-hit the Brewers and shut them out in the Braves
5-0 win. Justin Upton had a home run and 3 RBI’s in the win.
The Miami Heat beat the Indiana Pacers 87-83 to even up that
series 1-1 in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.
The Cleveland Cavilers have won the NBA Draft Lottery for
the second year in a row.
A Group of ex-NFL players are suing over the use of painkillers
and other drugs that kept them playing but led to serious
complications later in life.
Scott was one of 6 National Finalists for the 2008 Radio and Records News/Talk/Sports Local Personality of the Year Award. However he was beaten out by some guy in Los Angeles. Scott claims there was a "hanging chad" thing going on and is following up.
Scott has been the play-by-play voice of the Columbus State University Cougars for over 30 years, and is a member of the CSU Hall Of Fame.
