Yesterday South Korea started their new baseball season in the Korean Baseball Organization with games being played in empty stadiums very late in the day with hopes that American TV audiences will find the games a satisfying alternative to live sports in the US.
Yesterday's ceremonial first pitch was a creative alternative to the usual process as a nine year old boy was selected to "deliver" the first pitch.
He didn't toss a ball to a waiting catcher, but instead walked a giant bubble ball to home plate.
The bubble was painted up to look like a baseball and the boy was safely inside... and the players were safe outside from the boy, as any illness spread to players could jeopardize the season.
