Columbus Candidate for DA Held a Rally After His Arrest

A campaign video led to the arrest of Columbus lawyer Mark Jones who is running for District Attorney.

The video was shot at the Columbus Civic Center on May 17th and featured rappers telling voters to get out and vote. Cars were seen in the video doing donuts in the parking lot of the Civic Center doing what authorities say is thousands of dollars in damage to the parking lot.

Jones was taken into custody and posted bond Thursday night and was released.

The Friday rally was held outside his law office in downtown Columbus.

It's not Jones' first time being arrested. Jones pleaded guilty to a DUI charge in 2016 and has a second pending DUI charge stemming from a November 2019 incident.
