Atlanta Braves Score 29 Runs As They Trounce The Miami Marlins

Trailing 2-0 going into the second inning, the Atlanta Braves sent 14 batters to plate and scored 11 runs against the Miami Marlins. The onslaught didn't stop as the Braves scored in each of the next five innings en route to a 29-9 victory. They hit seven home runs as they shattered the franchise record for runs scored in a single game. They couldn't quite hit the major league mark of 30, which was set by the Texas Rangers in 2007.

Adam Duvall led the way with three home runs and nine RBIs. He hit one of his team's three home runs in the second inning, added another one in the fifth inning, and then ended his day with a grand slam in the seventh. Duvall's three home runs made him the first player in franchise history to have three home runs in a single game twice in the same season. He first accomplished the three-run feat last week against the Boston Red Sox.

"I've known that homers come in bunches, but something like that is pretty special," Duvall said. "I'm going to enjoy this one tonight."

Ozzie Albies returned after missing more than a month a wrist injury and had three hits, including a homer. Travis d'Arnaud and Ronald Acuna Jr. each hit a three-run home run in the win.

The Braves also tied a major league record by scoring 18 of their 29 runs via home runs.

"I've never seen an offense click like that, all together," Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman said.
