CSU Finished First at LeeAnn Noble Memorial

DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The Columbus State University women's golf team quickly rose two spots in the final round to snatch a tournament win at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial. The two-day tournament was played at the Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Ga.

The Lady Cougars improved their round two score by 20 strokes on Tuesday firing a 281, their best team round so far this season. For the tournament, CSU shot a 582.

Tournament hosts, North Georgia (583), was one shot behind CSU. Lee (596) dropped two spots from the opening day. Montevallo (600) and Catawba College (604) rounded out the top five.

"It was a good day for Cougar Golf," said CSU Director of Golf Mark Immelman. "I am so proud of both teams. The final round the Ladies put together is a record one-round team score, and in my opinion indicative of their potential."

Junior Ana Thorne finished the day with a two-under 70 to end the tournament one-under to take second place overall. Monica Ruiz Pavon finished Tuesday with a three-under 69 to take sixth. Victoria Libaak also turned in a two-under 70 over the final 18 holes to end in a tie for seventh. Selina Budde shot an even-par and finished tied for 25th.

Anna Meleshkina carded the drop score for CSU with an eight-over 80 to place her in a tie for 25th.

Columbus State will return to the course Monday, Oct. 21 to participate in the Flagler Fall Slam in St. Augustine, Fla.
