Lady Cougar Golf to Close out Fall Season

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's golf team will close out its fall season this week competing in the Jekyll O'Lantern Intercollegiate hosted by Lincoln Memorial. The 36-hole event will take place at the Jekyll Island Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Ga.

Fifteen teams will be teeing off at the par-72 course on Monday and Tuesday. Columbus State is one of four teams in the field that are ranked inside the top-25 in the GolfStat Division II team rankings. Joining the 22nd-ranked Lady Cougars will be No. 21 UNC Pembroke, No. 24 Montevallo, and No. 25 North Georgia.

Columbus State will be looking to defend its title after winning the Jekyll O'Lantern Intercollegiate last season. CSU won the event by three strokes with Victoria Libaak and Anna Meleshkina finishing second and third, respectively.

The Lady Cougars are back are the links for the second consecutive week after a ninth place performance at the Flagler Fall Slam on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22. Meleshkina was CSU's top performer finishing in 15th place.

No. 20 Cougars to Tee Off in Region Preview

COLUMBUS - The 20th-ranked Columbus State University men's golf team will look to cap off its fall season in style by competing in the South/Southeast Region Preview at the Irene Golf & Country Club in Memphis, Tenn. The event is being hosted by Christian Brothers University.

The 54-hole tournament will tee off on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. After the first two rounds on Monday, the Cougars will play the final 18 holes on Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Columbus State will be returning to the course after a strong performance at the Copperhead Championship on Oct. 14 and Oct. 15. The Cougars finished in second place after three individuals completed the event in the top-10. Jordan Doull (third), Preston Wagaman (seventh), and Ronan Kleu (seventh) were all impressive in Palm Harbor, Fla.

Doull, Wagaman, and Kleu will all be back in action this week along with Cole Cruickshank and James Ashfield. Louis Peeters will also be competing in the South/Southeast Region Preview as an individual.

Doull and Kleu are becoming one of the top duos in the Peach Belt Conference this season for Columbus State. Doull, who has finished inside the top-10 in all three tournaments this season including two top-five performances, is fourth in the PBC with a 70.1 stroke average. Kleu is right behind his teammate with a 71.4 mark to rank sixth.

Columbus State will be looking for its first team title this season. The Cougars have finished inside the top-five at their last two events.
