Cross County, Track & Field Volunteers at MCSD Fun Run

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University cross country and track & field teams volunteered at the Muscogee County School District's Fun Run this past Saturday.

The annual event, which was held at Kinnett Stadium in Columbus, featured races for countless MCSD elementary school students. Over 300 children participated in events for third, fourth and fifth graders.

CSU student-athletes and coaches were on site to cheer on and assists the runners. The Cougars served as the official "timers" for the races ensuing accurate race results for the elementary school students.

"This is what being a student-athlete is all about," stated Columbus State Director of Cross Country and Track & Field J.D. Evilsizer. "To come out and give back to the community that supports us is vital and I'm so thankful that we were able to help out at this wonderful event encouraging young children to be active and live a heathy lifestyle."

Throughout the entire year, Columbus State University student-athletes and staff volunteer countless hours in the Chattahoochee Valley region to show their thanks for the community's support of CSU Athletics.
