Williamson Earns PBC Player of the Week Honors

AUGUSTA, Ga. - After leading the Columbus State University women's basketball team to two victories over the weekend, junior guard LeeAysia Williamson was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week.

Williamson filled the stat sheet in the PBC/SIAC Challenge averaging 21.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 steals in the two CSU wins.

The Greensboro, N.C. native began the year with a 21-point outing as the Lady Cougars defeated Albany State 82-71 on Friday. She grabbed eight rebounds in the contest while dishing out a team-high seven assists. Williamson went right back to work on Saturday as she scored 21 once again, this time thanks to a 4-for-6 shooting performance from beyond the arc. She added five more assists and forced three steals with the Lady Cougars blowing out Fort Valley State 96-49.

For the week, the junior shot 46.7 percent (14-for-30) while going 5-for-10 on 3-point attempts. She also committed just two turnovers in over 60 minutes of game time.

Despite Columbus State playing just two games so far this season, Williamson ranks sixth inside the PBC in assists and ninth in steals.

Williamson is the first Lady Cougar to win the award since Dec. 10, 2018 (Tatiana Wayne).

The Lady Cougars will return to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 26 hosting Tuskegee inside the Lumpkin Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
