Cougars, Lady Cougars Earn National Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. - Following an outstanding fall season, Columbus State is well represented in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's rankings.
For the Lady Cougars, Luise Sachs (10th), Beatriz Lopez (17th), and Candice Paya (21st) all grabbed national rankings in singles play. Lopez and Kristina Baran were ranked 10th in doubles.
Alvaro Regalado nearly earned the top-spot in both polls on the men's side after reaching the ITA Cup Division II singles and doubles national championship match. The junior ended the fall season ranked second in singles as well as second in doubles with his partner Matei Avram.
The ITA Southeast Region poll is filled with Cougars and Lady Cougars. In singles, Sachs earned the top-ranking in the poll for the Lady Cougars with Lopez (fourth) and Paya (fifth) also in the top-five. Newcomers Neila Trklja (15th), Baran (18th), and Agostina Bigotti (19th) also earned regional rankings. Two CSU doubles teams were in the top-10. Baran and Lopez finished third while Paya and Sachs are in the ninth spot.
For the Cougars, four players are in the region's singles poll. Regalado is the top-ranked player while Fabien Asdrubal is 10th. Avram and Justin Welz joined their teammates in the rankings finishing 18th and 19th respectively.
On the doubles side, Regalado and Avram are the top-ranked doubles tandem in the Southeast Region.
Columbus State will begin the 2020 season in February.
