Governor Robert Bentley Expected To Resign
(Montgomery, AL) -- Reports say Alabama Governor Robert Bentley is resigning from office. Impeachment hearings started earlier today into the Governor's conduct, prompting Bentley to cut a deal. Multiple local media outlets report that as part of an agreement with the Attorney General's office, Bentley is pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges related to allegations he violated ethics and campaign finance laws. Bentley is accused of having an affair with former aide, Rebekah Mason, and using state resources to prevent his secret from becoming public. Lieutenant Governor Kay Ivey will be sworn into office as the next Governor of Alabama later today.
