Al Roker Defends Weatherman After Accidental Slur

Rochester New York TV weatherman Jeremy Kappell is getting some much needed defense from one of the biggest names in weather, AL Roker.

Kappell was fired after he says he accidentally referred to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday as Martin Luther Coon... King Jr. holiday. Kappell says he simply spoke too fast and ran the sounds of King and Junior into one word and quickly corrected himself on air.

Viewers who saw the live flub reacted quickly and demanded the TV station fire him... and they did.

Even the TV station's management said that Kappell didn't apologize immediately on air and that letting him go was best for the community.

Here's Inside Edition's story on Kappell and how things went down.
