Postal Rates Record Price Increase

Anyone who stocked up on stamps before today have a reason to smile.

The cost of a forever stamp has increased in price from 50 cents to 55 cents on Sunday... that's the biggest increase, ever.

That's not the only thing increasing... the price of priority mail is also up about six percent.

This means the small flat rate box that used to cost $7.20 to mail, now costs almost $8 to send.

There is one positive outlook. Additional letter ounce costs will decrease.

So if you're mailing a 2-ounce letter, the average weight of a wedding invitation will cost you 70 cents instead of 71 cents.

Last year, the postal service reported a 4-billion dollar loss because of the higher labor and transportation costs.
