Cougar Tennis Teams to Host NCAA Regionals

INDIANAPOLIS - For the third straight year, the John W. Walden Tennis Center will serve as a NCAA Southeast Regional host, as the Columbus State University men's and women's tennis teams were selected as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds respectively in the Southeast Region on Tuesday night.
The field of 48 teams were revealed during the NCAA Selection Show.
The top-ranked Cougars will take on eighth-seeded Limestone in the first round on Saturday, May 11 at 9:00 a.m. Fourth-seeded Flagler and fifth-seeded Lander will follow at 12:00 p.m. The two winners will then meet for a trip to the Round of 16 on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Lady Cougars were the No. 2 seed and will take on seventh-seeded Emmanuel in the first round on Monday, May 13 at 9:00 a.m. Following that match it will be third-seeded Tusculum taking on sixth-seeded Flagler with with winners of each match playing for a spot to the Round of 16 on Tuesday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m.
The number one team in the nation, the Cougar men (23-2) are appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 20th time overall and the ninth consecutive year under head coach Evan Isaacs. The Cougars won their first ever national championship last season, taking down Barry 5-4 in the final.
The fifth-ranked Lady Cougars (22-4) are making their 18th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and 23rd overall. The Lady Cougars have made the round of 16 in each of the last seven years, including a run to the national semifinals last season before falling to Barry.
Both the Cougars and Lady Cougars swept the Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament titles for the third consecutive season. Each team put together undefeated records in conference play and were a combined 4-0 against teams in their upcoming brackets.
