Clark, Goodfellow Named Academic All-Americans

AUSTIN, Texas - Two Columbus State University women's soccer players have been selected to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America team.

Riley Clark and Madeline Goodfellow both picked up their second career CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.

A 2017 Academic All-American and a 2018 United Soccer Coaches association Scholar All-American, Clark is one of the best scorers in Columbus State history on the field. The three-time All-Peach Belt Conference performer, Clark led CSU in goals (15), assists (six), and points (36) in 2019. She will finish the season ranked inside the top-25 in the nation in goals and points while taking home the conference's Select Sport Gold Ball Award, given to the player with the most goals in PBC matches.

In her four-year career, Clark had 51 goals and 17 assists for 109 points. She is only one of six players in PBC history to reach the 50-career goal mark while ranking third all-time in CSU history. The Peachtree City, Ga. native is also tied for fourth in the Columbus State record book for points. Clark was a third team selection holding a 3.73 GPA. She is a nursing major.

One of the best defenders in the nation, Goodfellow continued her outstanding work over her junior season. Playing in a team-high 1,714 minutes this season, Goodfellow has helped the Lady Cougars to a 0.94 goals-against average and eight shutouts. The junior is a three-time All-PBC first team selection and has started every match in her career. This season, she earned the PBC Defender of the Week award on Oct. 14.

Goodfellow carries a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in management. A 2018 second team Google Cloud Academic All-American, Goodfellow is a second team selection once again this season.

Clark and Goodfellow become the 12th and 13th CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in Columbus State women's soccer history. Prior to this year, only three Lady Cougars were two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America honorees.

The Division II Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Division II Academic All-America program. The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members.
