Three Lady Cougars Tabbed to All-Region Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Three Columbus State University women's soccer players were named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region team on Monday.

Senior Riley Clark was a first team selection while defenders Carley Canzoneri and Madeline Goodfellow earned second team honors.

It's been a busy award season for Clark after an impressive senior campaign. Already a first team All-Southeast Region selection by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and a CoSIDA Academic All-American, Clark garners her third straight all-region laurel handed out by the United Soccer Coaches association. Clark led CSU in goals (15), assists (six), and points (36) in 2019 continuing her climb in the Columbus State record books. She finished her career third all-time in goals (51) and fourth in points (109). She is one of just six players in Peach Belt Conference history to score 50 or more career goals.

Clark was named an All-American by the organization in 2018.

Earning the reputation as one of the better freshmen in the region, Canzoneri earns a spot on the All-Southeast Region team in her first season in Columbus. The first team All-PBC performer started all 20 matches for the Lady Cougars taylling nearly 1,600 minutes of match time. Canzoneri helped the CSU defense post eight shutouts while the team posted a 0.94 goals-against average.

The freshman chipped in on the offensive side of the pitch with two goals and an assist. She was named the organization's National Player of the Week on Oct. 22.

Similar to Clark, Goodfellow continues to add to her trophy case. A 2018 United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region selection, Goodfellow was a dominant force on the Columbus State backline. In addition to the eight shutouts, Goodfellow was excellent down the stretch for the Lady Cougars allowing just three goals over the final nine matches of the season.

Goodfellow has started every match in her three-year career and hardly leaves the pitch. This season, she led the team in minutes (1,714) while tallying over 5,000 in her career.

The Columbus native was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American and a D2 Conference Commissioners Association All-Region performer last month.

The United Soccer Coaches All-Region teams are selected through voting by member coaches in those respective divisions. Student-athletes earning First Team All-Region honors are now eligible to earn All-America status.
